Thankful Hearts are Happy Hearts

If you’re reading this, I am personally thankful for you. For three-and-a-half years, I’ve written here on Earl Grey and Yellow about many things, including my final topic–thankfulness. Your readership and support have been vital in helping me grow.

So much has happened since I started writing here and I’m thankful for all of it. Whether pleasant or unpleasant, all of it has played a role in shaping and sharpening me. I’ve succeeded and failed, but I wouldn’t change any of it. My mind, heart, and spirit are better for it.

We are nearing November, which is sort of an unofficial month of Thanksgiving as I see it. One of the best remedies for whatever ill moods or difficult circumstances we find ourselves in is simple thanksgiving. Remembering our blessings and thanking God for them is good medicine for a weary and hurting heart. It’s also good for a heart that’s in need of a spiritual boost.

Daily thankfulness wards off all kinds of things we don’t want in our lives.

I leave you with some scriptures to help you set your minds on gratitude. It’s the best possible thing I can prescribe as I leave this platform to find new adventures in this big wide world of writing. May you be enriched and blessed as you call to mind all God has done for you and in your life. He is good, all the time.

  • “Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good;
       his love endures forever.” (Psalms 106:1 NIV)
  • “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” (Colossians 3:15 NIV)
  • “I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart; I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.” (Psalms 9:1 NIV)
  • “Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18)

Thank you again for everything. I’m thankful beyond words to have been able to share with you here in this space. You can find me in these places beyond today. I hope you’ll stop by. It’s not goodbye–it’s simply see you later.
