Some days, life beats us up. We fall short. We mess up. People disappoint us, and we disappoint others. Feelings of inadequacy can creep in and paralyze us.
Days like that can make a person feel like a big, fat nobody. At least that’s how it goes for me sometimes. It’s an awful feeling.
The good news? There are no nobodies in Christ. When we are called by His name and dwell in His love, we are somebody. His goodness and holiness give us value because we are created in His image.
Once our lives are bound to Christ by His love, our inadequacies get nailed to the cross. He covers them by His grace. They must bow to His authority.
Instead of focusing on our inadequacy, we should rest in the knowledge of what our faith promises through Jesus:
We are chosen.
We are loved.
We are worthy.
We are victorious.
Even if we don’t feel it, it’s true. Our feelings have no right to define our worth. When we choose Jesus, His truth overrides our feelings. His power supersedes our fears, failures, and doubts.
God’s word declares it, so we too must declare it over our own lives and the lives of others.

“But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.” (1 Peter 2:9 NIV)
“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” (Psalm 139:14 NIV)
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” (Ephesians 2:10 NIV)
“And with joy give thanks to the Father, who has made you fit to have your share of what God has reserved for his people in the kingdom of light.” (Colossians 1:12 GNT)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” (2 Corinthians 5:17 NIV)

Sweet friend, Christ has paid it all. You are hidden and safe in the wound in His side. His perfection stands over your imperfection. His mercy covers every place you fall short. What a wonderful Savior!
As you walk into this week, stand firm in His truth–you are somebody!
