By tomorrow, it will be 2019. I am looking forward to the new year with hope and excitement. There’s something beautiful about a blank new calendar, full of possibilities.
Reflecting back on the progress of 2018 is critical for me to move ahead. I addressed this early in December. You can find that post HERE in case you missed it.
This year, My One Word was STEWARDSHIP. It was an incredible year for me. Amazingly, I have made more personal progress in the past year than I have in a decade. Choosing stewardship as my focus seems to have a been a lynchpin for this success.
I have found that choosing an anchor word to guide my year is not only effective, but it also helps me to reflect and readjust throughout the year. If you haven’t chosen one, think about what you would like to achieve or change about your life. Often, the word will rise to the surface and speak to your heart.
This year, my focus is much more personal than stewardship. I’ll be sharing more about this in a post the first Tuesday in January when I reveal my word for 2019. While there was a good measure of personal success and growth this year, there are some things I am still aiming to achieve. Having learned a lot about myself in 2018, I definitely see where I need to let go in order to move forward.
As I close out this brief post, I offer this scripture from Isaiah, which captures God’s heart for you in 2019. Our God goes before us, preparing the way. He desires to see you prosper and longs for you to draw close to Him.
You are called by name by the God of the universe. He loves you and will be your strength in the new year. May you receive it, heart, hands, and mind open.
I will go before you
and will level the mountains;
I will break down gates of bronze
and cut through bars of iron.
I will give you hidden treasures,
riches stored in secret places,
so that you may know that I am the Lord,
the God of Israel, who summons you by name.
May your new year bring you a renewed sense of peace and purpose for what your life can be. I pray God’s peace, wisdom, and direction in your life next year.
What are you looking forward to next year? What word will you choose to inform your approach to achieving these things? Please comment below and share your word.
