SONG: This week’s song was actually supposed to be something different. I had it scheduled for over six weeks. However, when I sat down to write, the song I had scheduled for next week was the first one that came on when I logged into Pandora. Someone out there needs to hear Revelation Song this week, either for the first time or hear it again with new ears. Kari Jobe’s rendition of this powerful song draws me into the deepest place of worship. The revelation of the power and majesty of Jesus is the focus in this song. His awesome power, the steadfastness of His love, the promise of one day beholding His Glory – it’s all in there. It’s a song of what was, what is and what is to come. It’s a grainy glimpse of the Alpha and Omega. One day I will behold Him clearly, His brilliant glory in front of me at last. What a day that will be.
SCRIPTURE: The book of Revelation is one many folks regard as a mysterious text that can elicit feelings of uneasiness. In it, imagery of Armageddon and turmoil are portrayed. It can be unsettling and uncomfortable enough to cause people to hesitate to delve into it. However, it is actually a book of great hope for believers, the fulfillment of Jesus’ promises to make all things new. Dear one, it should be a book of comfort and anticipation for you. You are on the side of a Mighty God who will “wipe away every tear”. In chapter 5, verse 12, we read:
In a loud voice they were saying:
“Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain,
to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength
and honor and glory and praise!”
Jesus, the Lamb of God, the atoning sacrifice who died once for all who believe is worthy of praise. Though a gentle Jesus to His dear ones, He is a fierce, powerful Protector of them also. He works on our behalf. We will behold Him in all His glory at the right hand of the Father. He is bigger than your problems, your fears, your past, your doubt. The Lamb of God, the Savior of the World, knows your name and cares for you as an individual. Embrace this and worship as you listen.
PRAYER: Dear Jesus, sweet Lamb of God. I know I can’t fully understand within the confines of this earthly life just how amazing You are. Please show me and let me know You more deeply. I trust You to be waiting for me when I get there. I also trust You to help me live this life well until that day comes. You are worthy of all my praise and worship Jesus. I love you. Amen.
