Almighty God,

As summer gives way to autumn,
You clothe the trees in September garments
of crimson and gold with a mere whisper.
Transform us also into blazing lights of truth and love.
In a world where grace and mercy do not easily abound,
so move us to these traits as we go about each day.
Soften us where we are too hard.
Loosen us where we are too tight.
Lighten us where we are too heavy.
Fill us to overflowing with Your peace,
imperfect vessels of a perfect God.
Thank You for crisp air and golden afternoons
that speak of Your power and goodness.
Though seasons may change,
You are changeless.
You were, You are, You evermore shall be.
Where mankind’s institutions seek to divide,
bring unity and peace.
Where pain and confusion reign,
may Your healing presence cover us.
Thank You for the fruit of the harvest,
on trees, on vines, in human lives.
For your bounty is exceedingly, abundantly more
than we ask or imagine.

and for your relentless love.
